On December 5th, 2023, Heembouw began the construction of a distribution center in Halfweg. The distribution center will cover an area of approximately 20,000 square meters, divided into four units. The project is commissioned by Sunrise Real Estate, with C2N serving as the delegated client and project manager.

Despite the winter conditions, construction is progressing steadily, with completion expected in October 2024. The building will be fully electric and will hold an A++++ energy label. Sustainability and ecology are central not only during the operational phase but also throughout the construction process. Special nesting boxes will be integrated into the facade, and all installations visible from the street will be concealed behind “green” walls. A significant portion of the parking areas surrounding the building will be enclosed by green hedges, helping to reduce high temperatures in the summer and providing a habitat for flora and fauna.

As one of the first buildings in the Netherlands, this facility will feature a battery system to store some of the energy generated by over 9,500 PV panels on the roof. This stored energy can be used when the PV panels generate less energy, such as during the night. In this way, we are contributing to a sustainable future and working to accelerate the energy transition.
