The Atrium complex is located in the heart of Amsterdam’s main business district, ‘De Zuidas’. It is a unique building because of its transparency, which is reflected in the large open atriums where sunlight can flow in unhindered. The Atrium complex consists of a trio of existing towers and two new towers (North and South towers). The complex includes a new underground car park with a capacity of 532 parking spaces and charging points for electric vehicles. There is a large covered bicycle shed, with additional facilities such as changing rooms and showers. The building also has excellent public transport links.
The aim of the renovation was to modernise the Atrium without losing its unique character, and even to bring out the uniqueness of this building. The New Atrium is a place for optimal working, meeting and relaxing. Recently, this renovated building section was awarded the BREEAM-NL In-Use certificate with a Very Good *** rating.
The two newly built towers are in harmony with the existing Atrium both in height and style. Sustainable materials, passive design measures, energy-efficient installations and water-saving solutions in the sanitary facilities have been used. Recently both towers have obtained the final BREEAM-NL new building and renovation Completion Certificate with an Excellent **** rating.
C2N has fulfilled the role of BREEAM-NL Expert for this project.
