Rotterdam is in possession of the Netherlands’ first real and sustainable Martkhal. Construction started in late 2009. On 1 October 2014, the Market Hall was officially opened by Her Majesty Queen Maxima.
The Market Hall is the first covered market floor in the Netherlands. A place where good food and unique living come together in a spectacular arc. The building’s unusual shape already appeals to the imagination, but so does the inside. Artist Arno Coenen created the largest work of art in the world: ‘the Horn of Plenty’. The building is now known as the ‘Sistine Chapel of Rotterdam’. Besides the impressive interior, there are 96 unique stalls and 20 retail and catering outlets.
On 19 May 2015, the BREEAM-NL completion certificate Very Good was achieved and awarded to Provast during PROVADA in Amsterdam. During this project, C2N has the role of Assessor.
